FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

YouthReach Provides Exciting Opportunities for Local Youth in Simcoe County
Sept.1, 2015, Barrie, ON

YouthReach is pleased to announce its plans to support local youth and families in sport, recreation, arts and cultural programs across Simcoe County. Proudly funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, YouthReach is a new and evolving charity whose vision is to ensure that no youth in Simcoe County will be prevented from participating in sport, recreation, arts and culture activities because of financial and other barriers. YouthReach is supported by a team of passionate volunteers and supporters who believe that opportunities to actively participate in enriching extra-curriculars are key building blocks to a healthy future for youth.

In order to ensure ongoing success of program development, the Board plans to seek regular feedback from groups of youth in order to address current, real life challenges that face today’s youth in Simcoe County.

“YouthReach is a great initiative for our youth in Simcoe County. Our board is made up of volunteers who are excited about providing improved access to sports, recreation, arts and cultural programs for youth,” said Board Chair, Denis Galbraith. “Working with youth for youth is a clear part of our mandate as well as creating public awareness and fundraising to provide support to as many applicants as possible.”

As part of YouthReach’s fundraising initiatives, they have announced the launch of their inaugural fundraising raffle. Prizes include a mountain bike, a luxurious dinner for eight at the Crazy Fox Bistro and two HD Action Cameras. Tickets are five dollars and can be purchased at the Crazy Fox Bistro or by contacting YouthReach via their website at www.youthreach.ca. The draw will be held at City Hall on Monday, October 5 at 6:30pm.

“We are very encouraged by the enthusiasm we’ve received in preliminary discussions with various stakeholders about YouthReach’s intermediary role supporting the healthy development of young people,” said, Chris Roos, Coordinator, YouthReach. “We hope to partner with community minded corporate sponsors, interested in considering new ways of engaging employee volunteers and increasing their impact in the community. “
