Launch Event highlights YouthReach supporting Youth in Simcoe County

Barrie, ON – YouthReach is pleased to announce its plans to support local youth and families in sport, recreation, arts and cultural activities across Simcoe County. Proudly funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, with a $312,000 grant made in October 2014, YouthReach is a new and evolving charity whose vision is to ensure no youth in Simcoe County is prevented from participating in enriching extra-curricular activities because of financial and other barriers.

Funds from the five-year long Foundation grant are being used to help with fundraising, public awareness and marketing initiatives, as well as office equipment. The grant is also being used to help with the salary for a YouthReach Coordinator to oversee the start-up of the organization.

“YouthReach is a great initiative for our youth in Simcoe County,” said Board Chair, Denis Galbraith. “Working with youth for youth is a clear part of our strategic plan moving forward as well as public engagement and fundraising to provide support for as many applicants as possible.”

YouthReach is supported by a team of passionate volunteers and supporters who believe that opportunities to actively participate in physical, recreational, arts and cultural programs are key building blocks to a healthy future for youth.

“We are very encouraged by the enthusiasm we’ve received in preliminary discussions with various stakeholders about YouthReach’s intermediary role supporting the healthy development of young people,” said YouthReach-Coordinator Chris Roos. “We hope to partner with community minded corporate sponsors, interested in increasing their impact in the community or considering new ways of engaging their employees to volunteer.”
